Cut valerian root (Valeriana officinalis). Fair warning: the root smells strongly, and not of flowers. That pungency is part of its power in tradition, where valerian is a protector and a peacemaker, used to break jinxes and bad luck, to quiet a house, and in sleep sachets. One ounce, cut.
